Hilton Head, SC: United Airlines announced today the launch of air service at the Hilton Head Island Airport, which will include seasonal service to three United hub airports commencing this spring. Beginning March 31, 2019, United Airlines will operate twice daily nonstop flights between Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Hilton Head Island Airport. Beginning April 6, 2019, United will inaugurate twice weekly service to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) flights and weekly service to New York/Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) from Hilton Head Island Airport.

The new seasonal service will be flown with two-cabin regional aircraft allowing for both comfort and efficiency. The new routes will link Hilton Head Island to the vast domestic and international route system of United Airlines and its Star Alliance partners.

“The new service announced today by United Airlines is thrilling for not only our community, but for those who love our region,” said Mayor David Bennett. “We look forward to working with United Airlines to ensure the successful route launches and welcoming new visitors to our community!”

“United’s announcement earlier today is excellent news for Hilton Head Island Airport and the surrounding region,” said Paul Sommerville, Chairman of the Beaufort County Council. “The new service will add more options for travelers from across the region as well as for visitors wishing to visit this great destination.”

“We are excited to welcome United Airlines to our airport,” said Jon Rembold, Airports Director of the Hilton Head Island Airport. “The new service to three major United Airlines hubs will serve as an important business opportunity for our region and also help attract new tourists to the area.”

The combination of the weekly, seasonal service offered from United’s three hubs across the country allows for faster connection times into or out of the area, streamlined connectivity, and the flexibility to tailor travel options to the needs of visitors.

“We are excited to offer customers the only nonstop service between Hilton Head Island and Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C.,” said Ankit Gupta, United’s vice president of Domestic Network Planning. “We look forward to beginning service to this beautiful destination by offering customers more nonstop ways to Hilton Head Island than any other airline.”
